Welcome to my website. As you may have guessed from the header, my name is Ryan Hoots. I'm a writer from Indiana, and I also design webpages from time to time. I manage quite a few websites out on the internet, and somehow find time for all of them, plus school. Sometimes, I like to play Minecraft for hours on end.
Right now, I'm posting on two blogs. Tech.RyanHoots.com is my "professional" website, where I write about Linux, Windows, and various other stuff. Blog.RyanHoots.com is my other blog, I usually post random techy stuff on it, leaving the professional style stuff to my other blog.
I mostly write about technology news, and I do some reviews here and there, but I really enjoy writing fiction. I just don't write much of it, and what fiction I write is pretty boring (not to mention full of typos). Hopefully that trend will end when I release the novel I'm working on now, which I'm calling "The Shadowed Hand".
It doesn't come up much in my writing, but I'm a follower of Christ. I believe that He came to Earth to redeem us, and that's the most important thing that has ever happened.
This website is pretty much just a central location for all my available downloads, although there's nothing really interesting at the moment. Eventually, I'll have some PDFs, various code, and possibly Oolite Expansion Packs here. I may pack up this site's HTML in a tarball for download, sometime. My code's all CC-licensed, after all.
I'm a proud supporter of Linux, which I use on a daily basis. I believe the open source model is fundamentally better than closed source, even for commercial products (just look at Red Hat or Canonical). I use Debian whenever possible.
